Liposuction

2 min read

In liposuction, the amount of fat cells in the regions to be treated (problem areas) is reduced in a targeted manner and in this way a more advantageous appearance is achieved. Above all, unpleasant hip pads, riding breeches, knee rolls, etc. can be removed with it, whereby liposuction can also be carried out on many other parts of the body. The main goal of liposuction is body shaping.

In the case of the suction technique used by means of vibrating cannulas, excess fatty tissue in the areas of the body to be treated is usually removed painlessly and permanently under pure tumescent local anesthesia (local anesthesia). This method makes it possible to get closer to the desired figure.

The Method

In tumescent local anesthesia, a highly diluted anesthetic solution is locally introduced into the fatty tissue to be treated. In addition to the resulting lack of pain in this area, the fat lobules are flushed and softened after an individual exposure time, so that they can then be easily removed.

The use of vibrating cannulas makes the treatment much easier and thus has a significantly gentle effect on the patient.

Due to the storage of the so-called tumescent solution, no further anesthesia is required in most cases, which ensures that the patient is largely free of pain and mobility during treatment.

After liposuction

At the end of the treatment, the small skin incisions are covered with a dry sterile bandage, but not sutured, and the patient is fitted with a padded bodice.

The anesthetic solution, i.e. the treatment fluid (tumesce solution), is only partially removed during suction. The remaining residue drains into the dressing within the next few hours, which also cleans the wound. Overall, this procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis. However, you should come for a dressing change for the following 2 days. The bodice should be worn for about five weeks, depending on the extent of suction. From the second day, you will feel a pain reminiscent of sore muscles, which can last for several days.

For the sake of completeness, it should be mentioned that any liposuction can of course also be performed under twilight sleep anesthesia. As with all surgeries, we attach great importance to preventive measures in liposuction. Depending on the size of the area to be treated, you will therefore receive antithrombosis injections for several days as well as an antibiotic for infection prophylaxis.

Risks

Due to the modern and gentle liposuction technique using a vibrating cannula, the usual risks of any operation, such as thrombosis, embolism, infections, bleeding, vascular and nerve injury, are extremely rare, but not completely excluded.
