Facelift
1 min read
Visible signs of ageing on the face and neck are caused by a slackening of the very complex mimic muscles and the overlying connective tissue structures.
The tension in the muscles decreases with age and the skin loses elasticity. The stored fat is distributed unfavorably and the appearance gives you the feeling of looking tired and unattractive. At this point, a facelift can be considered.
With a gentle facelift, such age-related changes in the facial contours are corrected by tightening and smoothing.
Aim of the operation
The aim of a facelift is to give the skin a natural-looking tension in the sense of a "younger face", as well as to reposition the underlying structures such as fatty tissue and muscles. Today, there are various forms and techniques, e.g. VIMOTIS (VIbration MObilisation of TISsue), that are used.
The Super Extended Face Neck Lift with SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System / Cheek-Neck Muscle Lift), for example, is a useful method for tightening, shaping and rejuvenating the face.
This operation is usually performed in twilight sleep, which is a much lower burden for the patient overall, as it is usually accompanied by a relatively quick recovery after the operation and pain is rare.
The Super Extended Face Neck Lift according to today's common methods has the advantage that the face appears unoperated and gives it a fresh, radiant and relaxed expression.
With the help of the midface lift or midface and neck lift, the signs of aging, such as sagging cheeks on the lower jaw, excess skin with clear wrinkles on the cheek and in front of the ear, sagging skin on the neck that often appears as a double wrinkle, can be eliminated.
No "mini-lift"
It is important to know that a lasting effect can only be achieved through the simultaneous tightening of the muscles under the skin or their combination. If, on the other hand, only the skin is tightened (mini-lift), in most cases this leads to a rather mask-like facial expression, which has little to do with naturalness. For this reason, we do not offer a mini-lift.
Forehead and eyebrows
A forehead that is too high, excess skin with wrinkles on the forehead or eyebrows that are too low can also be corrected, although it will be clarified in a personal consultation whether this procedure is necessary, as there are also alternative, conservative methods available today that can significantly improve the appearance.
Risks
In the consultation, we will inform you about possible complications. As with any surgical procedure, it can lead to a wound infection, secondary bleeding, reduced sensitivity in the surgical area and injury to a facial nerve, among other things. In heavy smokers, diabetics, hypertension patients or other high-risk patients, the probability of complications is slightly higher. Complications are extremely rare, but as with all surgical procedures, they cannot be 100% ruled out.
After the operation
In the following four to six weeks, you should refrain from intensive sun exposure, solarium and sauna as well as competitive sports. It is also necessary that you follow the instructions discussed before the operation. This is the only way to achieve an optimal result.
